International Student Conference
on Applied Mathematics and Informatics

Prague, 16 –19 May 2019

How to reach the conference venue

From Václav Havel Airport Prague

By public transport (bus 119 -> Nádraží Veleslavín, then any tram -> Thákurova OR metro -> Dejvická)

The Prague airport is located about 12 km / 7 miles from the conference venue. A public transport ride from the airport to Thákurova tram stop or Dejvická metro station takes about 24-25 minutes (if traffic is not heavy). The ride combines either the 119 bus and a tram line or the 119 bus and metro (i.e., subway).

It is recommended to buy a single-trip 30-minute (CZK 24) or 90-minute (CZK 32) ticket or a short-term tourist pass before the ride, though, if necessary, you can buy a 90-minute ticket directly from the bus driver for CZK 40; Prague Public Transport Tickets provides details on how to buy and validate the tickets.

Participants from the non-Schengen zone can depart from Terminál 1 Bus Stop near the main entrance to the Airport Terminál 1 building (see the left image below). Schengen zone participants should use Terminál 2 Bus Stop just in front of the main entrance to the Airport Terminál 2 building (see the right image below).

After boarding the bus, do not forget to validate your ticket; see Prague Public Transport Tickets for details.

The bus terminates at Nadraží Veleslavín transfer point. Then, you can get on any tram going down Evropská Street and get off at Dejvická. Or, you can get on a metro (subway) train and get off at Dejvická. There are two exits at Dejvická; it is recommended to use the one next to the tail of the train (Šolínova Street exit). After the transfer, do not validate the already validated ticket again; it remains valid till the end of its time interval.

You will reach the conference building (see the red flag on the maps below) after a few minutes walk from either Dejvická tram stop or Dejvická metro station (green flag).

By taxi

Although tourists should be vigilant when using taxi services in Prague, the reputation of AAA Radiotaxi seems to be not bad. You will not find the yellow “AAA” cabs in front of the arrival teminals, but you can order the service on their webpage. It is good to know that each registered cab displays the price information and the driver’s name and registration number on the exterior of the driver-side door. The price of a ride from Václav Havel Airport Prague to Thákurova Street (conference venue) should not exceed CZK 500 (USD 22).

From Prague Main Railway Station (“Praha hl. n.” in train schedules)

By the Prague underground/subway (called “metro” in Prague)

It is sufficient to buy a 30-minute single-trip ticket (CZK 24); Prague Public Transport Tickets provides details on how to buy and validate the tickets. Please remember to validate your ticket before you enter the metro area.

Four metro entrances are located in the railway station main hall (the lower hall); use one of those close to the glass outer wall. This will direct you to the platform served by trains going to Háje terminus station (the other two entrances, close to the upper hall, would lead you to the wrong platform dedicated to the trains heading for Letňany). Ride one stop to Muzeum (1 minute), and change from the Red Line (code name C) to the Green Line (A). The ride to the station Dejvická takes 7 minutes. There are two exits there; it is recommended to use the one next to the head of the train (Šolínova Street Exit). After a 7-minute walk, you will arrive at the main entrance to the FCE building (marked by the red flag on the map below).

From Holešovice Railway Station

By the Prague underground/subway (called “metro” in Prague)

In rush hour, a single-trip 30-minute (CZK 24) ticket is sufficient because the ride should not exceed 20 minutes. Prague Public Transport Tickets provides details on how to buy and validate the tickets. Please remember to validate your ticket before you enter the metro zone.

The railway station hall is connected to the metro platform through a short corridor. Take a train heading for Háje terminus station and change from C Line to A Line at Muzeum Station. Proceed as above; see the instructions for traveling from Prague Main Railway Station.
